Walter Douglas Stovall entered this world, son of the late Rebekah Stovall Muse, on March 16, 1942. Walt dedicated his life to Christ at an early age at Bethel A.M.E. Church, Rocky Mount, VA. He graduated from Lee M. Waid School in 1960. He tried out for several pro baseball teams while playing at Muse Field for several years. He attended Livingstone College until being drafted into the U.S. Army, serving for 4 years. After being honorably discharged, he moved to Great Neck, New York, and signed a professional baseball contract and shrimmaged with the NY Knicks. He retired after 30 years as a postman. During his days off, he played baseball and basketball. After that, he returned to Rocky Mount, VA, and was employed at Standard Registry and Walmart for a few years. Walt was an avid N.Y. Mets fan and enjoyed playing lottery, scratch-offs, pick 3 & 4, and occasional Mega Million tickets.
