Our beloved Jerome Mattox, departed his earthly body to be present with the Lord in the early morning hours on Friday, January 26, 2024. He was born on July 3, 1965 in Rocky Mount, VA to the late Billy R. Mattox and Mary Joan Mattox. He married his special lady Mary on December 31, 1994, and out of that union was two children, Mariah and JJ. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Mattox, paternal grandparents, Rev. Boyd (Frances) Mattox, maternal grandparent, Ms. Christine Cook, and his brother Joseph Mattox.
Jerome was a 1985 Franklin County High graduate who joined Faith Temple church at an early age under the leadership of Elder David L. Powell. He would lend a hand in keeping the church grounds or just whatever he could do to help. Until his health failed him, he worked as a Lead for Environmental Services at Lewis Gale Hospital.
Jerome was and will always be remembered as a loving, charismatic, husband, father, and friend. He loved all sports, especially basketball because he thought he was a professional player. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, music, and cooking - he made the best biscuit & gravy and smothered pork chops.

Mattox, Jr.,, mother Mrs. Joan Mattox, two brothers, Russell (Gladys) Mattox of Roanoke, VA and Mark (Nicole) Mattox of Reynoldsburg, OH, two sisters, Wanda Cook of Rocky Mt, VA and Nyree Cook of Arlington, VA, a grandson Easten Mattox, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
