Rhonda Sherielle Holland, 61, passed peacefully into her Lord’s care on Tuesday, July 9, 2025, at the home of her brother, Robert Holland surrounded by family and loved ones.
Born in Rocky Mount, Virginia, Rhonda was preceded in death by her parents Lois and Sylvester Holland, and sister-in-law Margo Holland.
She is survived by, and leaves to cherish her memory, brother Roger Holland (Crystal), Robert Holland, and Renee Robinson (Wayne); nieces and nephews Katrece Holland, Brent Holland, Nicole Lee, Blake Robinson, Ashley Holland, Amber Green, Holland Robinson, Simone Holland, and 10 grand nieces, and nephews, aunts Curley Arrington, Patricia Muse, Judy Gill, Brenda Holland and one uncle Robert Holland (Ann), and a number of cherished relatives and friends.
Authentic joy, simple smiles and laughter, genuine love for God and pure worship were perfectly embodied in Rhonda. She met each day with an understanding of the power of living life with a sense of fun and appreciation for family and friends. Her active participation in the Special Olympics reflects her love for community and camaraderie. Snapper and Jackie (her dogs) benefited from Rhonda’s ability to express love unselfishly in all forms. The kingdom of God that lived inside of Rhonda was manifested through her beautiful crafts, arts, and collection of pens and other tools that gave life to her thoughts and inward desires. She was an earthly example of how God cherishes the meek in Spirit.
Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth (Matthew 5:5). Rhonda’s teachable, wise, and humble character exemplified the meaning of this scripture. She was a true worshipper who always wanted to praise to God (Hebrews 13:15). She had an unwavering faith in the Lord and a great love for her family and friends; and she was a beautiful example of the power and benefit of meekness to all who knew her. It is no wonder the hymn - Amazing Grace and the worship song - Free Worshipper were Rhonda’s favorites: “Thank God I’m free, and I’ll never be bound again!” Rhonda is now in the hands of her Lord, and she is “free to dance and sing, free to lift her hands in worship, Lord, she’s free!"
Rhonda was a member of Lovely Valley Baptist Church in Wirtz, Virginia. We take comfort in knowing that she is in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
