Michael Jerome Patterson, Sr. was born on September 28, 1961, in Franklin County, Virginia to the late James Willie, Sr. and Lizzie Ann Gilbert-Patterson.
Michael was educated in the Franklin County Public School System. He valued education and was a life-long learner earning numerous trade certifications. Michael was the owner of JP Designs and was deeply devoted to his family and community. Michael was a man of faith and known for his kind and generous spirit. He loved children, serving his community, coaching basketball, and cheering on the North Carolina Tar Heels. He was a proud grandfather and loved supporting his grandchildren in their life endeavors and sports. He will be remembered for his kindness, service, and love for others.
Preceding him in death were five brothers, James Willie “Junebug” Patterson, Jr., Robert “John William” Patterson, Melvin Lee Patterson, Curtis Patterson, and Lawrence Patterson; five sisters, Martha Jane Patterson, Mae Deloris Patterson, Angela Logan, Nancy K. Mack, and Patricia Harper; and two nieces, Tasha Nicole Pace and Me’Sharra Latrell Patterson.
Those left to cherish his memory are his two children, Michael Jerome Patterson, Jr. of Laurel, Maryland, Brittany Patterson of Rocky Mount, Virginia; five grandchildren, Jada Michelle Patterson, Gabriel Michael Thomas Patterson of Roanoke, Virginia, Teanna Nicole Patterson, Aryana Lorraine Patterson, and Izaiah Jamar Patterson, all of Rocky Mount; three sisters, Ethelene (John) Stanley of Rocky Mount, Wanda (Jesse) Cook of Ferrum, Virginia, and Pamela (James) Palmer of Glade Hill, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Angela W. Patterson of Rocky Mount; three brothers-in-law, James Mack of Rocky Mount, Moses Logan of Martinsville, Virginia, and Walter Harper of Wirtz, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
