Obituary
On Sunday, February 11, 2024 God sent his angel of mercy to bring to his heavenly home Melvin Douglas (Buddy) Witcher. He was born in Franklin County, Virginia on August 10, 1941 to Connie and Mozelle Witcher.
Buddy was preceded in death by his father Connie Witcher, two brothers, Otis Witcher and Jackie Witcher.
Melvin, Flats, Musrat, Buddy, the many names he was addressed by, was a kind and gentle man. He loved life, people, music, hats, and trading cars. He held his children, momma and siblings dear to his heart.
Buddy was educated in the Franklin County School System. He professed Christ during his middle aged life. Over his life span he was employed in different capacities, his last job being watchman at the intersection of Truevine.
He is survived by and leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Rodney Witcher of Wirtz, Virginia, and Barry (Frances) Witcher of Penhook, Virginia; one granddaughter, Kenya Witcher of Penhook, Virginia; one grandson Private 1st Class Corey Witcher of Fort Drum, New York; two great grandchildren, Laila and Corion Witcher; Mother, Mozelle Witcher of Penhook, Virginia; seven sisters, Edna Campbell, Erma Wade, Cecelia McGhee, Alma (Zebedee) Cook, Connie (James) Waddy, Linda (Byron) Witcher, Cecile (Nelson) Moore; and one brother Jerry (Lenora) Witcher all of Penhook, Virginia.
Special extended family members, Juanita Witcher, mother of his children; Herbert Townes, Sandra Powell and Gloria Frances whom has always been considered his adoptive brother and sisters. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
