Mary Ann Hancock Ross daughter of the late George and Leoma Ross was born April 15, 1935 in Rocky Mount, Va She went home to be with the Lord On Sunday October 25, 2025 at Forest Hills Nursing Home in Columbus, Ohio.
Mary was educated in the Virginia school system. As a young woman, she worked hard on her parent’s farm along with her brothers and sisters. Mary left Rocky Mount Va at a young age and moved up Ohio with her brother Frank Ross and uncle Harry Ross where she met and married Fred Hancock. She resided on 12th Avenue for many years in Columbus until she moved to Jenkins Terrace.
Mary attended Travelers’ Rest Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio, where she served on the Usher Board, Willing workers and the Food Pantry committee. Mary was also a member of the Eastern Star Masons, which guided her life towards a life of virtue, faith and service. She enjoyed cooking and having a good time.
Mary worked for Westinghouse in Columbus, Ohio where she retired. Mary was always offering a helping hand especially in her high rise (Name) She loved talking to the seniors in her building she would sit for hours with them telling each other stories. She will be missed.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Fred Hancock, (brothers) Lorenzo Ross, Frank Ross, (sisters)Willie Mae Holland and Dorothy Edwards. She leaves precious memories to her brothers Nelson E. Ross (Wilmington, DE), Robert Ross (Martinsville, VA) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other life long friends.
