Margaret "Nellie" Elizabeth Saunders Holland

On Saturday, January 13, 2024, Margaret Elizabeth Saunders Holland entered into final rest at Franklin Health & Rehabilitation Center Rocky Mount, VA.  

Born in Franklin County, Virginia on July 7, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Sam and Clara Saunders.  She attended school in Rocky Mount, VA. After school she moved and worked in Washington, DC.  Later, moving back home, she married Edward R. Holland, Sr. and to this union two sons were born, Edward Randolph and Jerry Lee Holland.

She was preceded in death by her husband known as “Ed”, and son, known as “Randy”, one brother, Sam “Pete” Saunders, and one sister, Lillie O'Neal.    

Nicknamed “Nellie,” and insisted in later years, to be called Margaret, she worked and retired from Erath Veneer Corp, in Rocky Mount, VA.  She gave her life to Christ and worked diligently in the church and was a dedicated member of the “Usher Board”. When she moved her membership to Bright Star Baptist Church, she was a Trustee, and assumed the responsibility of leader of the Usher Board for many years. She was a member of several organizations in the church and community. Her hobbies included her love of fishing, and of course playing BINGO.
