Obituary

On April 29, 2025, Mae Sue Newbill Leftwich, 81 of Rocky Mount, VA was called home to be with the Lord. She was born on January 21, 1944 the daughter of the late Millard Jones and Laura Sue Reynolds in Franklin County, VA. She was united in marriage to Willie James Leftwich. Her last places of employment were Cooper Wood & Lane Furniture. She joined Franklin Grove Missionary Baptist Church through baptism at an early age, later moving her membership to Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her health prevented her from attending.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Virginia Royer and Annie Thomas; two brothers, Henry Newbill and David Reynolds; two daughters, Lori Ann Newbill and Audrey Witcher Patterson; and one son, John “Lil Willie” Witcher.

She leaves to cherish memories her husband, Willie James Leftwich; one daughter, Patsy Witcher Patterson; three sons, James Thurman Newbill, Charles Jeffrey Newbill, and Jerry Aaron Newbill; two step-daughters, Sheila Leftwich and Leticia Beckner Curtis; two step-sons, Willie (Marie) Leftwich and Dwayne Pernell Leftwich; three granddaughters, Angelica (Kenneth) Witcher Walker, Nicollette Helms, and Jesilynn Newbill; six grandsons, Aaron Helms, Marcus White, Micah White, James Newbill, David Patterson, and Jamias Newbill; four great-grandsons, Gavin Stovall,  Julian Rayford, Kenneth Walker III, and Jeremiah Walker; three great-granddaughters, Naviah Pannell, Janiah Rayford, and Nylah Whittle; four half-sisters, Brenda Jones, Linda (Trent) Jones, Janice (Ivan) Adams, and Carlena Lindsay; one half-brother, Curtis (Amelia) Jones; and a host of additional nieces, nephews, and cousins.
