Lorenza W Terry

Deacon Lorenzo “Duck” Terry entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Carillion Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. 

He was born July 27, 1956, to Roberta Terry. He was educated in the Franklin County School System. “Duck” as he was lovingly called enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He was a die hard “Redskin” now known as the “Commanders” football fan. He had no problem letting you know how he felt when it came to the Commanders.

Lorenzo married the love of his life, Rebecca, who preceded him in death and the were blessed with two children. Deacon Terry was a faithful deacon at Rising Sun Missionary Baptist Church and would work wherever he was needed. He started the Hospitality and Parking Lot ministry at the church. Hewas a part of the Greeter’s ministry and would greet you with that infectious smile on his face.

When the male chorus was formed you found him in the choir stand singing with the men of the church. Whenever there was a church function he was always there if possible. Deacon Terry will be remembered fondly at the church fish fry. He always made sure that he was there to make sure the fish was battered correctly. He loved the Lord. You would find him crying while praising God and occasionally you would see him take a lap around the church. He will greatly be missed by his family and church family.

He leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Mrs. Tonya Crider (Jerry); one son, Mr. Michael Casey (Kendra); seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two special cousins, Mrs. Debra Stockton and Ms. Ree Terry; a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
