On Sunday, February 18th, 2024 , Fannie Eloise Stanfield received and answered the call fro our Lord and Savior.

Fannie (Who went by Eloise) was born August 25, 1942 to the late Ruth Carrington and Augusta Strange in Halifax County Virginia.

Eloise was a graduate of Mary Bethune High School in South Boston Va. While in her 20’s and living in Alexandria, VA she worked at local health department (becoming one of the first African Americans to work in there Alexandria office).

Eloise married John Stanfield where they met at Shiloh Way of Cross Baptist church, Alexandria, VA. She work at the health department and would send money to John who was in mortuary school in Louisville, KY. *She would always remind him “That degree is half mine”. They would eventually relocate to Rocky Mount, VA to start their business and raise a family. John proceeded Eloise in death (August 9,2021).

In addition to her parents, Eloise was proceeded in death by one brother, Tyrone G. Strange.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her brother Augusta Strange of South Boston, VA; Sons’ Mark Stanfield of Rocky Mount

and Michael Stanfield of Winston Salem, North Carolina; sister in-laws’, Jackie Bridges of Chantilly, Virginia; Agnes Strange, South Boston, Virginia, Sylvia Thompson, Kannapolis, North Carolina.

one brother in law Vincent Stanfield of Herndon, Virginia; 12 grandchildren, Krista

Stanfield, Anson Stanfield, Alexis Stanfield, Michael Stanfield, Jr., John Stanfield,

Iris Torrence, Jesse Torrence, Eddie Torrence, nephews,Bishop Tyrone G. Strange II, Brian Strange, Sidney Strange,Stanley Williams,

Hollis Stanfield and Bradley Stanfield; nieces, Mildred Strange Ballenger, Crystal Strange, Lisa Williams and Kiara

Bridges; special family friends and matriarchal figure to Tim Cuff, Arthur Tolliver, Danny Preston; and

Stanfield Mortuary staff, both past and present; other relatives, friends and the

Franklin County community at large.
