Erma James Preston

On July 25, 2025 Erma K. Preston departed this life at the Star City Rehab and Nursing Center in Roanoke, Virginia.

Erma K. Preston was born on February 18, 1945 to Charlie Rufus James and Elsie Powell James in Pittsylvania County, Virginia,

Erma was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Walter H. Preston Sr., 5 brothers, Cary James, Flurry Powell, Bobby Charles Witcher, Guy James, James Richard James and 4 sisters, Edgetine Powell, Susie Muse, Shirley Smith and Patricia Evans and stepson Wendell Preston.

She is survived by one brother, Thedo James of Penhook, Virginia. 2 sisters in law, Juanita James of  Penhook, VA, and  Sandra Preston of Boones Mill, VA.

Erma leaves to cherish her memories, one son, Raymond James (Jennifer) of Charlotte, NC, 1 grandchild, Cooper James, born to Raymond James and his former wife, Lindsay James; sister in law, Sandra Preston, stepsons, Lewis Preston, Walter Preston and DeVon Preston, a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and many special friends.
