Edward "Ed" Bryan Phillips, Jr

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Edward (Ed) B. Phillips, who passed away on March 13th, 2026, at the age of 87 in Rocky Mount, VA.

Born on January 25th, 1939, in Providence RI to Edward and Lily Ann (Alexander) Phillips; husband of Frances A. (Young) of 59 years. Ed was the oldest of six brothers and one sister, all deceased: Charles, Kenneth, Thomas, Walter, Gordon and Lily Ann. Ed was preceded by two daughters, Tracy Lynn and Kerri Lee. Surviving children include daughter, Terri Ann Hudson of Rocky Mount VA. Grandchildren include Joshua Wheeler and wife Melissa; Tyler Phillips; Corey Hudson and Alyssa; and Summer Hudson. Great grandchildren include Ryan Samuel Wheeler and Wyatt Curtis Hudson.

Ed was a truck driver for Anderson Rigging in Cranston RI and a maintenance worker for the town of Franconia, NH.

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved spending time in the White Mountains of NH and at Smith Mountain Lake in VA. His favorite hobbies were camping and fishing, and he passed on that love and legacy to his daughter and grandkids.

There will be a memorial service at Smith Mountain Lake Community Park Pavilion on Sat, March 21st at 11:30am. Food and refreshments will follow afterwards at the pavilion/picnic area. All are welcome.
