Earlie Fulton Cobbs
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course. I have kept the faith...2 Timothy 4:7
On Wednesday, June 25, 2025, Deacon Earlie Fulton Cobbs received and answered the call from our LORD and SAVIOR.
Earlie was born on August 9, 1941 in Franklin County, Virginia to the late Daniel Thomas Cobbs and Mary Jane Brown Cobbs. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Andrew Eugene Cobbs, Jewel Nutron Cobbs, and Benjamin Franklin Cobbs; three sisters, Lola Cobbs Toney, Barbara Cobbs Kidd, and Virginia “Mozell” James McKenzie; and one grandson, Jeremy M. Dixon.
Earlie was educated through the Franklin County School System and was a 1960 graduate of Lee M. Waid High School in Rocky Mount, Virginia. At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and joined True Vine Missionary Baptist Church in Rocky Mount. He attended faithfully and served his Church in numerous ministries, including the Deacon Board, Finance Committee, Transportation, Male Chorus, Trustee, Maintenance, and as Sunday School Superintendent, just to name a few.
He was a hard working self-employed man who wore many hats. As a master carpenter, electrician, and plumber, he serviced many homes in Franklin County and surrounding areas. He thought outside of the box to fix/assemble anything. In addition, he farmed and was a licensed barber for over 50 years. On May 2, 2015, he was presented with an honorary doctorate degree in barbering.
Earlie leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Betty Campbell Cobbs; two daughters, Aretha (Arthur) Patrick and Aneta Cobbs; one son, Fulton (Crystal) Cobbs; a special nephew, Demetrice (Tamika) Campbell; five grandchildren, Marcus Dixon, Malcolm Cobbs, Sr., Ashley Patrick, Amber Patrick, and Makayla Plummer; four great-grandchildren, Ny’zir Cobbs, Malcolm Cobbs, Jr., Amora Cobbs, and Amor Dixon; three sisters, Dora Cobbs, Lois (Wilbert) Yates, and Helen Smith; six brothers, Hildred (Bernice) Cobbs, Joseph (Joyce) Cobbs, Wiley (Esther) Cobbs, Robert Cobbs, Carl Cobbs, Thomas Cobbs, and George Cobbs; two uncles, Raymond (Marquerite) Brown and Calvin Brown; two goddaughters, Greta Campbell and Jacqueline (Stephon) Craighead; and a host of relatives and friends.
