In Loving Memory of Dora Mae Witcher

Dora Mae Witcher, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished member of her family, was born on June 26, 1939, and peacefully departed this life on October 3, 2026, in Rocky Mount, Virginia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jasper and Eliza Craighead; husband, Jim William Witcher (Jacob); four brothers, Bobby Lee, Thomas, Ben, John; sister Barbara Jean Craighead; and grandchild, Jarrett Witcher.

Dora Mae was a woman whose love could be felt in the warmth of her presence, the kindness in her heart, and the beautiful memories she created with the people she loved. She was a devoted mother to her four children and took great pride in her family. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Kenneth W. Witcher (Gina) of Phoenix, Arizona; David Witcher (Lisa) of Rocky Mount, Virginia; Tracey DeShazo (Clinton) of Glade Hill, Virginia; Cornell Witcher (Sally) of Rocky Mount, Virginia, a bonus son: Ronnie Moore. Her siblings Bill Craighead (Mary), Luster Craighead (Marie), Sophie Campbell, James Craighead (Donna) and host of relatives and friends.

Her love extended through her 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, including two expected great-grandchildren, as well as one expected great-great-grandchild. She also leaves to cherish her memory a devoted friend, Tyson “Tiger.” Her family and friends brought her countless moments of joy and gave her many reasons to smile. They were among her greatest blessings, and the love she shared with them will remain a treasured part of her legacy.

She was a faithful member of the Rising Sun Missionary Baptist Church. She served as the head of the kitchen for many years and a honorary usher. She loved her church and her little pastor, Bishop K and Lady K. The congregation will greatly miss her that she called family.

She will be remembered for her loving heart, her strength, her wisdom, and the special way she made those around her feel cared for. To know Dora Mae was to know a woman who loved deeply and left an everlasting imprint on the hearts of those blessed to have known her.

Although our hearts are heavy with sadness, we are grateful for the years, memories, laughter, lessons, and love she gave us. Her physical presence may be gone, but her love will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchild, family, friends, and everyone whose life she touched.

Dora Mae leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love that can never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

Rest peacefully, Dora Mae.Your work here is done, but your love will live on in our hearts forever.Until we meet again, may you rest in eternal peace. ❤️
