Derrick Early

On July 17th 2025, Derrick Donnell Early departed this life at his home in Franklin County Virginia. Derrick was born to the late Mary Alice Early and the late George Singletary on August 25th 1968.

Derrick was proceeded in death by his maternal grandmother Sally Ruby Newbill Meadows. Derrick was educated at Franklin County High school and work his career at plygem.

Derrick attended Morningside Baptist Church from childhood where he was later baptized in his late adult life.

Derrick was a die hard Steelers fan and and represented that team proudly. Derrick loved music, movies and any type of electronics and knives. 

Derrick leaves to cherish his memories: wife Gale Early of the home. Three sons Cameron Hughes (Alysha), Anthony Preston (Shantina), Marcus Preston, Jontae Craighead and 1 daughter Whitney Craighead. Beloved sister Judy Early of Rocky Mount Virginia, brother Alvin Thompson ( Monica ) of NC, brother George Singletary ( Erika) of Maryland, sister Senaide Mauhsby,of NC, 11 grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews cousins, family and friends. He also leaves a special cousin Nelson Newbill (Kenyatta),a special grandson Rontavius Williamson and a special mother-in-law Irene Mattox and special sister in-law and brother in law.
