On January 10, 2025 Clarke L. Campbell-loving known as "Gabel" peacefully completed his life journey at the Rocky Mount Health Rehabilitation Facility in Rocky Mount, Virginia,
Clarke was born September 28, 1951 in Pittsylvania County, Va, to the late Geraldine "Odell" Campbell - Palmer and step-father James B. Palmer.
Clarke joined Greater Mount Parrish at an early. He was a hard working man that enjoyed gardening, raising chickens and hogs and cutting trees for firewood. He was a generous person often giving to family, friends and neighbors. He wouldn't let you visit him without giving you something to take back home with you. He also was a strong will individual that often insisted on doing things his way. Clarke enjoyed flowers and Keeping his yard in pristine condition.
Some of his hobbies included shade tree mechanic-ing playing the bass guitar and listening to gospel music. In his younger years sang in a gospel group from True Vine Baptist Church called "the Gospel Five".
Clarke was a 1970 graduate of Lee M. Waid High School. He worked as a logger during his high school years. Upon graduation, he was employed by Stanley Furniture Company with over 45 years of service.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sister, Lavender Campbell-Fitz, of Rocky Mount, Va., a brother, James F. Palmer (Pamela), Glade Hill, Va., Foster brother, Glen "Buck" Palmer, Rocky Mount, Va., a special niece, Tara Campbell, Petersburg, Va., and other nieces and nephews, an aunt and caregiver, Betty Cobbs (Earlie) of Penhook, Va., a host of cousins that were like sisters and brothers to him.
