In Loving Memory of Kathy Ann Ziegler
-A Letter to Our Mom.
Dear Mom (Katreen, Momma, Gma), You were born on October 30, 1954, to William Robert and Bertha Lean Ziegler. On Sunday, December 14, 2025, God called you home. Our hearts are heavy without you here, but we know you are finally at peace.
From the very beginning, you were a nurturer. Family was never just who you were born to, it was who you loved. And you loved big!
You shared a deep bond with your siblings Freddy (Betty) Ziegler, William (Shawna) Ziegler, Kimberly (Ronnie) Childress, Tony (Dawn) Ziegler, Mary Mack, Cecil Berger, Diane Lumpkins, Mary Roberson, and Leandra Wainwright. You also welcomed so many others as family, including the Jones and Gill families, and your adopted daughters, Shelby Smith and Devyani Sadaria.
Being our mom and a grandma was your greatest joy. You poured everything you had into your daughters, Kena (John) Mitchell and Traze (Roy) Witcher. And you adored your grandchildren, Keenan, Jonathan, Keri, Orianna (Raz), Ayden, Amora, Amias, Ella, and Kross. You loved your nieces, nephews, adopted grandchildren, and friends the same way, with your whole heart.
Your faith was steady and strong. No matter what life brought, you would say, “Jesus knows.”
And that brought us comfort. You loved talking about the Lord, being with family, and singing along to your favorite song, “Remember the Time” by Michael Jackson. We’ll always remember how your face lit up in those moments laughing, telling stories, and pulling everyone close.
Mom, you had a servant’s heart. When your mother passed, you stepped in without question to care for your siblings. You spent years caring for the elderly with patience and kindness. And you had a special love for children, always making sure they were safe, fed, and loved. Helping others wasn’t something you did. It was who you were.
On the Lord’s Day, you finished your race. God gently told you it was time to rest, no more pain, only peace. While we miss you more than we can say, we’re comforted knowing you’re resting in the arms of Jesus. Your love lives on in us. In our memories. In our stories. In our faith. We love you forever, your family.
