Minister Ruth Holland Taylor 73 departed this earth on May 8, 2026. She was the youngest of three siblings born on September 13, 1952, to the late Fred Holland Sr. and Dora C. Holland, in addition to her parents, Minister Ruth was proceeded in death by her only beloved brother Willie Fred and her big sister Dora Frances.

Minister Ruth attended Lee M Waid High School and was the last graduating class of Lee M. Waid in 1970, Minister Ruth continued her education at Virgina Western Community College and graduated Magna Cum Laude with an Associate Degree in Industrial Management in 1988. She went on and continued her education at Patrick Henry Community College majoring in the field of Administrative Support Technology where she made the Dean’s list for her studies.

Minster Ruth was employed by Lane Furniture Company in Rocky Mount, VA for over 30 years and ended up retiring from Stanley Town Furniture Company in Basset, VA.

Minister Ruth married Gregory (Pete) Taylor on June 23, 1973, and to this union they have two sons Stacy L. Taylor and Andre’ L. Taylor, two stepsons Gregory Wade and Elijah Law whom she loved and treated like her own sons.

Minister Ruth joined Snow Creek Missionary Baptist Church at the age of 12 and loved serving the lord; Minister Ruth was the Youth Advisor, and Financial Secretary of the Snow Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member on the S.G. Moore Gospel Chorus, Heaven Sent Gospel Group, the Youth Ensemble, and one of the members along with her sister Frances, her Brother Willie Fred and her sister-in Law Judith formed a singing group called The Holland Family, where they sang all over Franklin County and surrounding areas.

Minister Ruth never met a stranger and those who knew her knew what a great and powerful voice she had when she sang. Minister Ruth was called to ministry on August 25, 2002, at Snow Creek Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully until her health began to fail.

Minister Ruth leaves to cherish her memory her husband Gregory (Pete) Taylor, her two sons Stacy L (Tiffany) and Andre’ L (Jesse) Taylor, Step-Sons Gregory Wade (Vanessa) and Elijah Law, one niece Alisha McEnhimer, one great nephew Turner, Fourteen grandchildren and Twelve great grandchildren, two aunts Elizabeth Green Bear, Delaware and Mabel Pullen Snow Creek, VA nine Sisters-in Law Priscilla Mitchell, Norma Sweetenberg, Della Staples, Betty Roseboro, Lisa Banks, Eassie Taylor, Judy Taylor, Leola Taylor and Cora Taylor, Five Brothers-In-Law Earnest Sweetenberg, Bufus Taylor, Lonnie Taylor, Ronnie Staples, Ruben Roseboro. She also leaves to cherish her devoted friends Minister Kathy Wade, Frances Smith and Marshall Leo Spencer.
